You Asked, We Listened: Version 2.0 of Our Online Quoting & Ordering System

We’re excited to announce the release of Version 2.0 of the industry’s first online quoting and ordering system for aerospace wiring harnesses.

‍Version 1 was built in just six weeks, sparked by a late-night realization: if our internal quoting engine could estimate labor with precision, why not make it customer-facing? The result reminded me of the PCB quoting tools I’d used in the early 2000s — and soon after, we launched the first online quoting and ordering platform in our industry.

From day one, we’ve kept listening. After launch, I began gathering feedback from colleagues, customers, and industry contacts. We rolled out dozens of improvements — from tax exemptions to BOM imports — but some feedback was consistent and loud. So I started building Version 2 in parallel, while Sasha and the SmartObject team worked their magic on a refreshed UI.

Last week, we released the combined fruits of that effort. Here’s what’s new in Version 2:

1. No More Manual Labor Entry

Customers told us loud and clear: they don’t want a labor-only quote, especially if it means extra data entry. Version 2 eliminates that step — you now get a streamlined, turnkey quote right away.

2. Seamless Customer-Supplied Components

Nearly half of the builds coming through involved customers supplying some of their own components. Until now, that required back-and-forth email chains. Version 2 makes it seamless — simply tell us which parts you’ll provide, and the system handles the rest.

3. Source by Cost vs. Time

Sometimes the cheapest option works. Other times, speed is everything. Version 2 lets you set your sourcing priority up front — cost, time, or balance — so we can tailor the quote to your exact program needs.

4. Standardized Build Specs

From napkin sketch to released drawing, our system is built to meet customers wherever they are. If you submit a drawing that meets our four minimum requirements and select a standard build spec, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting without needing a full set of drawing notes.Our mission is simple: to make wiring harnesses as easy to source as any other component. Version 2 is a major step toward that goal, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work our team has done.
